Why Vaccinate My Child?

Vaccinations are the most effective tool your child’s Pediatrician has to prevent many debilitating and deadly diseases.  Having your child vaccinated protects not only your child but infants and children who may be at greater risk of infection, such as a medically fragile child (who cannot receive the vaccine) and infants and toddlers who have not yet completed their full series of vaccines.

Are They Safe?

Vaccines are among the most thoroughly tested and safest medical products on the market.  It can take over ten years of testing and trials before a vaccine is licensed, approved and available.  After approval, manufacturers continue to test their products to ensure that all doses of vaccine are as safe as possible.  The vaccine manufacturers are constantly testing their product and they must submit their results and samples of the vaccine to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), before they are allowed to release that lot of vaccine onto the market.  Additionally, a safety system is set up to report any and all adverse symptoms one feels could be linked to a vaccine.  This central program, Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS), collects and compiles information about possible side effects.  Together, these safety systems work to keep vaccines and children as safe as possible.
