"After 30 years of practicing medicine my love for being a physician has grown stronger as a result of working at TrueCare, a place where the focus centers on providing quality team-based patient care regardless of socioeconomic status. As a first-generation Costa Rican American, I am personally aware of the significance cultural sensitivity plays in providing quality patient care. I can vividly recall how my immigrant parents and siblings were not afforded consistent quality medical care. This imbalance became the impetus that fueled my desire to become the bilingual, bicultural physician that I am today. Patient education is also an extremely important component for providing quality health care. As a pediatrician I must communicate in a language and style my patients and their parents can understand..
